Almanack58 is a catalogued web directory modelled on the card-catalog tradition of reference libraries. Rather than ranking or filtering by proprietary signals, it organises sites into 22 subject headings and presents each entry as a straightforward record: name, address, and a brief description, indexed for retrieval.
The collection currently holds 835 reviewed accessions drawn from across the web. Entries span adult companionship services, vehicle and parts trade, personal grooming and style, gaming and wagering, construction and home trades, dental and oral health providers, documentation services, education and instruction, financial services, food and provisions, home furnishings, industrial manufacturing, legal counsel, medicine and wellness, press and media, and much else besides.
Submissions are processed through the standard accession form. Once a site is submitted, its record is held in a pending queue until a reviewer has assessed it against the basic criteria. Approved entries are added to the relevant subject heading without delay. No fee is charged at any stage of this process.
Almanack58 does not claim authority over the content of listed sites, nor does it verify the accuracy of any claims made therein. The index is a finding aid — a starting point for research and discovery, not an endorsement or recommendation. Users are encouraged to exercise independent judgement when consulting any accession within the directory.
The directory is maintained on an ongoing basis. Subject headings are reviewed periodically, and the classification of individual entries may be revised if a more accurate heading becomes available. New accessions are added as submissions are received and approved.
